It's mine

OK

The beauty is mine now.

Finalised the deal yesterday - went for a looong test drive, took the car for the MOT (Annual Vehickle Inspection) and while it received 100% records from the MOT I signed the papers.

Had to drive it back to the carage for few days as it is snowing today, but should get it out for good next weekend!

CANNOT WAIT!!!

You can (always) see more pics from the car at my BER944 blog at http://ber944.blogspot.com

Cheers!

Winter Holiday

We spent the winter holiday 06 in Ski Resort
Sappee, which is located nicely less than 2 hrs drive from Helsinki. It's pretty much as close to Lapland as you can get in less than 2 hours. And it wasn't that far from Lap - although the slopes were significantly smaller and the weather was not_that_cold... And the slopes weren't too crowded, whic was a great advantage compared to Lappi.

We went up there with good friends of ours, Tiki, Tuomo and their 3 sons plus a dog. So altogether we had 4 adults, 5 kids and a dog. Splended!

We stayed in a very nice cabin, just off from the slopes (also great advantage compared to Lappi)

Kids learned to ski (above - and after ski - below) really well, Ada (about 3,5 years now) learned to take ski lifts up - and ski down the small slopes (not baby slopes) all by herself. Although she knows exactly how to turn she thought she don't have to! Likes the speed! A bit wiser and more careful Ines (almost 6) then learned to ski really really well, following us adults to almost any place on the "Mountain" (no kidding, it's called Sappeenvuori, Sappee Mountain:)

It was great, the sun was shining throughout the week, weather was great, we all had fun and relaxed just like you should do on holiday!

Next year again!!!

FINALLY part 2

So "FINALLY" -part 2 continues after months...

But finally I've got something to write about. Not saying that my 3 girls (and a male cat) or my passion to mobility and digital media are not something to write about, but still - as you (hi Henri and mom) are well aware, I have not been too active blogger lately (say in past 1,5 years).

Well, now this could/might change.

I found a new "love". I call it Project951, the "951" is an factory model number for a Porsche 944 Turbo. And I bought a 1986 951 yesterday. In a way it is not really a project as this "951" is in perfect condition even though it is about 20 years old. It's in a great shabe, has a very powerful 220hp Turbo charged engine and corners like it's on rails (quote: Pretty Woman).

Too tired of posting any links here for the moment, but if interested Google "Porsche 951" and you'll be directed to the right sites...

Here's one pic of the beauty - some more info (in Finnish) in another blog of mine "BER944" [http://ber944.blogspot.com/] which I will update more often!!!

FINALLY (photoblogging made easier)

Finally Uploading Photos reasonably easy. Thanks everyone who contributed to this, way or the other.

Also thanls to all who sympathically read my frustration about Blogger/Blogspot inability to receive photos easily. I've received quite a few e-mails stating that now, finally, you can do 'photoblog' easier with Blogger. After months of total Blogger -ignorance this seems pretty usable. Good job.

Also I've heard that photos via mobilephone is now possible via Blogger. Great!!! (as you know, I've been crying out loud for it!). BUT only in US. What a party booper.

>> Anyway, we went to a touring fair that came to the neighbourhood week ago weekend (annual event, every year as exciting:-). The most loved 'apparatus' was definately the Hot Air Balloon carousel. Looks like fun:-)

Funny coinsidence (?) - in my last post to Blogger (April 05, just before my frustration towards Blogger) I was looking for help from my client and acquaintance Christian Lindholm, who apparently decided to go and work for Yahoo! about the same time I discovered that Flickr can receive my mobile photos. (Y! is parent for Flicker). Good Luck Christian - for sure we will here more from Yahoo! and Flickr now that C is on board.

April 24, 05: I will have talk to Mr. LifeBlog, Christian
Lindholm
, from Nokia about this again... This Blogger/Hello dilemma just
cannot continue...

Well, I've been using Flickr only for storing my mobile photos, but think from now on I will continue blogging and and add this blog to my Flickr account for posting! Seems that 'notes_from_Finland' will get an extension for it's lifecycle!

Anyway, now I am a happy blogger. Just got my new Nokia N90 Nseries 2 mpx Carl Zeiss cameraphone and now it seems to make sense to post from the road, so why not.

Later!

No images (today)

There's soomething wrong with the Picasa Hello. It just won't update pics to my blog. And this is still the only way to send images to Blogger. C'mon Google, open the interfaces to all systems!!! I still would love to e-mail/MMS images and short descriptions to my blog while on the go. I would do it!!!!

Anyway, have been working quite a lot with mobile blogging and social communities lately, but it just seems that the old saying "Shoemaker's kids don't have any shoes" is true again.

I will have talk to Mr. LifeBlog, Christian Lindholm , from Nokia about this again... This Blogger/Hello dilemma just cannot continue...

So, no pics today, hopefully I'll be able to upload them soon!

And the snowball got bigger and bigger... kids were rolling it uphill toward our yard, but then changed direction as it became huge...

Finally enough snow (after 2 weeks of rain and mud). Last weekend we got about 20 cm of fresh powder. Inkku and some other neighborhod kids made a huge snowball...

The Asian tsunami was really sad. We also gave some money to charity and also went to the charity conceprt organised by the greatest Finnish bands. (Thanks HP for invitation and nice evening for good support!). The bands playing were: Negative, 69 eyes, Rasmus, Darude (DJ/VJ) , *HIM* and Apocalyptica. Ville Valo on stage, and really nice screen technology on background!

This is the safe set-up of firecracker. The earlier one almost burned the house... I was a bit scared about buying fireworks from Lidl...

Minna "frying" the New Year's lucky-tins for the kids. Me and Hannu (catain Hannu)

Leevi the killer cat (Hi there Axel:) - checking out the X-mas pressies

Some off-piste back country sking :-)

Finally at Peuramaa, ski instructor Pernilla and Ines having good time. After that Ines has been developing really well...

Inkku got new skis from Santa - and the memories from last year's sking lesson came into mind. Waiting to get out there to the slopes!

Also the nature looked really peaceful during Christmas. Thought this "blue moment" -shot from our back yard looks quite good...

After the pressies it was time for the fab X-Mas dinner. Gorgeous dinner!!!!!!

Hey - Santa Claus has visited daHouse. We just went outside for a little sledging and... MERRY X-MAS

Our first ever X-mas ham. Hannu gave me this little (6kg's) piece of pork when I said that our 1st X-mas with just our family will not be traditional. Thanx Hannu-it's the ham that makes the x-mas! (X-mas tradition #2)

TILT YOUR HEAD!!! Our first ever family X-mas tree. Nice. Chosen and picked up by daddy & the kids (X-mas tradition #1)

Inkku was an angel in the play (in the middle). So was her friend Tara. Inkku's best buddy Oliver was a shephard....

Inkkus day care "club's" Christmas Carol - where they sang and played tradiotional X-mas plays. So cute!! THis is where it all started, annual X-mas parties...

Going to Peuramaa Alps, almost only sunny day in December. It was nice!!! Inkku is a natural born ski-bum with the shades!?

Captured this one at Stockmann (local dept. store). Some peole had made nice decorations from the Finlandia -marmelade balls. Ice Hockey Finland vs. Sweden. Hope you reading this John. (Remember what happened in September? Read from below...

Santa himself visited the local crocery mkt at the end of December. All the snow had melted for a change, but we tried to get to the feeling. Petteri the red nose raindeer helped in the task...

After a HOT sauna a well COOLed beer is a must. Realy enjoyed this one!!!

This is how the city center of Helsinki looked when it snowed a "bit more than normally" on one day. Parking sure was easy! And in 2 days all the snow was gone...

Small bakers making X-mas cookies. ough was good, and so were the cookies!

Christmas is approaching (mid Dec), and Santa's little helpers are ready. So are the "Fimbles" (Himpulat), which are currently the most exciting toys! (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/fimbles/). Inkku has "Hopsu" and Addu has "Pom". Cute...

I&A at their best - jumping around the house, other with a kangaroo-ball, the other just jumping....

Finally the 1st snow!!! December 4th! And we have a gorgeous little downhill slope right behind our house! Awesome!

Lego Racer IR controlled RC car is the favourite lego. Also daddy likes to drive it around the house...

The same SkiExpo weekend meant also some autumn cleaning

Went to annual SkiExpo to prepare for the snow. Girls test_driving nice Stigas...

And someone had to wash the summer-wheels as well. Thanx wifey!

October 31. Winter is about to come - me changing the winter tyres (with spikes)

hello&sorry!!

ok

happy new year.

Got a new camera phone (Nokia 6630 3G phone). Didn't help-it was my laptop that had a broken motherboard. Now that's fixed, so no more excuses.

And I am not lazy - so here comes. First few words to wrap up the past 3 months. Thereafter mainly pics of this ~n~ that.

Well, abt 3 months has gone by. A lot has happened, then again, nothing special.

Here's what:
-We had the first snow for about 3 times before Christmas. It melted always. Although we had a white X-mas. Nice. X-mas was nice, not only because of the snow, but because we stayed at home just 4 of us. So nice, relaxing, peaceful, wonderful... Kids got very nice presents, and so did I... (see pics above)
-Tsunami of course was a very sad incifent. No more about it, we've heard plenty! Sad news!
-Year changed quite peacefully - went to Villa Toivanen, naturally ate very good, drinked well, shot some fireworks, almost burned the house...
-Ines got downhill skis for Christmas, and we've been going to skiing resorts quite often. Nice and relaxing!!! Our local is a very small place called PEuramaa Alps (www.peuramaa.com). And we've gone few times to Vihti resort, www.vihtiski.fi. Really a nice hobby after quite many years!
-Currently we have snow again, about 25 centimeters of it, and minus 10 degrees freezing cold. It seems that the snow will even stay this time for more than 4 days... fingers crossed!

OK - that's it. Back on track - see pictures and the explanatory short txts with them for more of 2005 issues.

Kiitos ja anteeksi!
